FMCG Retail Key Account Manager – Johannesburg

About the role

The Retail Key Account Manager will lead commercial relationships with pharmacy and supermarket retailers, working directly with buyers and planners at head‑office level to secure new listings, expand existing ranges and ensure successful execution across key accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers and planners at retailer head offices.
• Present new product ranges and manage the full listing process, including retailer administration and system requirements.
• Secure initial orders into retailer distribution centres and monitor stock levels, replenishment and rate of sale.
• Drive repeat orders, identify opportunities to expand product ranges and manage promotions, catalogues and new product launches.
• Analyse sales performance, develop clearance strategies for slow‑moving items and coordinate closely with Product Development, Operations, Supply Chain and Finance.
• Manage third‑party merchandising partners and monitor in‑store execution when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in FMCG Retail Key Account Management.
• Proven experience managing relationships with retail buyers and planners at head‑office level.
• Track record of securing new product listings and managing retailer onboarding processes.
• Strong understanding of retailer replenishment, distribution centre ordering and stock management.
• Experience planning and executing promotions, new product launches and commercial growth plans.
• Advanced analytical and negotiation abilities.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel for sales analysis and reporting.
