Fleet Controller

About the role

The Fleet Controller will oversee the daily operations of a heavy‑vehicle fleet within a transport and logistics environment. You will ensure vehicles, drivers and deliveries are coordinated efficiently while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and track vehicle movements using fleet management and telematics systems.
• Plan daily transport schedules, routes and allocate vehicles to meet customer requirements.
• Ensure compliance with transport regulations, vehicle servicing and maintenance schedules.
• Liaise with drivers, customers and workshop teams to resolve operational issues promptly.
• Track fuel consumption, driver performance and overall fleet efficiency.
• Maintain accurate fleet records, documentation and compliance reports.
• Coordinate vehicle servicing, inspections and provide breakdown assistance.
• Compile performance reports and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) qualification – essential.
• Minimum three years’ experience as a Fleet Controller or in a similar role within transport, logistics or road‑freight.
• Strong knowledge of transport regulations, vehicle compliance and fleet administration.
• Ability to manage multiple vehicles, drivers and deliveries simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
• Valid driver’s licence is advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency with fleet management and tracking systems.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Understanding of side‑tipper and PBS vehicle operations (advantageous).
• Computer literacy and strong problem‑solving abilities.
