Financial Controller – Quick Service Restaurants

About the role

The Group of Quick Service Restaurants at V&A Waterfront is seeking a hands‑on, commercially driven Financial Controller to oversee finance across its franchise stores. You will partner closely with operations to ensure financial integrity, drive profitability and maintain compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present monthly financial results for each store and the consolidated group.
• Analyse store‑level profitability, including sales, food costs, labour and overheads.
• Support business analytics through reporting and deep‑dive performance analysis.
• Monitor key cost drivers such as food, labour and expenses.
• Ensure accurate daily sales reconciliation and cash‑control processes.
• Maintain SARS compliance (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax) and oversee audit readiness.
• Develop and maintain SOPs for finance and store processes.
• Design and enhance financial and operational reporting.
• Manage creditors, debtors and the accounting team.
• Monitor cash flow and working capital across all stores.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Honours preferred).
• Completed SAICA articles.
• Minimum 2 + years post‑articles experience.
• Exposure to retail, FMCG or QSR environments is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of SARS compliance.
• Commercial and operational mindset with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
