Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Controller to lead the finance function of a fast‑growing FMCG business in the food and beverage sector, based in Springs, Johannesburg. You will be responsible for establishing robust financial processes, reporting, and governance to support both local and international stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchase order authorisation, bank reconciliations and payment cycles.
• Develop and implement financial SOPs, internal controls and governance frameworks from scratch.
• Manage ERP system implementation and optimisation across reporting platforms.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, cash‑flow forecasts and financial reports for internal and external audiences.
• Handle revenue recognition, rebate calculations and retailer‑specific accounting.
• Ensure compliance with South African tax legislation, including company tax calculations.
• Lead contract reviews, tender processes and flag legal risk areas.
• Mentor, develop and manage the finance team, setting objectives and conducting weekly meetings.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate accounting qualification (BCom Hons or equivalent) minimum.
• Completed articles with SAICA, SAIPA or equivalent.
• At least 5 years post‑articles experience, preferably in FMCG.
• Proven experience in a financial controller or senior finance management role.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and South African tax.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a finance team.
