Financial Controller – FMCG, Consumer Goods & Distribution

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to join a well‑established national business operating across FMCG, consumer goods, wholesale and distribution. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will strengthen financial governance, ensure statutory compliance and lead the finance team in a fast‑paced commercial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the month‑end close process and produce accurate management accounts.
• Prepare annual financial statements, coordinate external audits and ensure compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements.
• Maintain internal financial controls, accounting policies and governance practices.
• Oversee VAT, PAYE, corporate tax compliance and statutory reporting.
• Manage accounts payable, cash management, ERP financial controls and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Partner with senior finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, finance transformation and process improvement.
• Lead, support and develop finance team members to ensure consistent delivery and accountability.

Required profile

• CA(SA) qualification or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• 5‑8 years post‑articles experience in financial control, corporate accounting, audit or a similar finance leadership role.
• Proven experience managing month‑end reporting, annual financial statements, statutory compliance and external audits.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, South African tax legislation and financial governance best practice.
