Financial Controller – Fixed Term (12 months)

About the role

We are looking for a Financial Controller on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to join Sanlam Group Technology. The role will support the finance function of the technology division by ensuring accurate recording, classification and reporting of financial data.

Key responsibilities

• Compute, classify and verify numerical data for accounting purposes.
• Compile and sort supporting documents such as invoices, checks and vouchers.
• Post business transactions, including funds received, disbursements and cost allocations, to ledgers or financial systems.
• Prepare and review invoices, account statements, reports and other financial records for accuracy.
• Reconcile bank statements, loans, accounts payable and receivable, and resolve discrepancies.
• Perform month‑end, half‑year and year‑end closing activities and journal entries.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis for IT cost clusters.
• Develop cost transparency, recovery models and financial process improvements.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification; Honours degree or CTACA (SA) preferred.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in IT or financial services.
• Strong financial knowledge with exposure to client interactions.
• Ability to translate financial information for non‑financial technical audiences.
• Self‑aware, action‑oriented and able to manage conflicts independently.

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
