Financial Adviser - Everyday Banking (FAIS)

About the role

Absa is recruiting a Financial Adviser for its Everyday Banking (AIFA) unit in Randfontein. The adviser acts as a FAIS-licensed financial adviser, following the six steps of financial planning and giving advice on investment, life insurance and estate planning. The role also covers sales targets, client management, compliance and practice management.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, bank personnel, product providers and adviser support staff.
• Take part in reciprocal leads activities and sales/pipeline meetings, and use the bancassurance structure to find new and repeat business.
• Assess client needs using the Financial Needs Analysis tool (Avalon from August 2024), obtain consent to access existing policy information and present recommendations and quotes.
• Follow the designated client engagement process, complete product applications and gather compliance documentation such as the Client Advice Record, ID copy, FNA and FICA.
• Review the client's portfolio at least once a year and provide feedback to the Regional Manager on conversion rates and cross-selling opportunities.
• Manage own commission earnings, keep the client database up to date, follow up on unpaid premiums and lapses, and manage the suspense account.
• Manage the adviser practice: brief and train adviser assistants, coach and mentor them, take corrective action on underperformance, liaise with the Provincial Operations Office and complete required compliance exams.
• Keep Fit and Proper status, attend required training and maintain honesty, integrity and financial solvency.

Required profile

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in financial planning and advice in long-term insurance and investments.
• NQF 5 FSB-approved qualification (120 FAIS credits).
• RE 5 certification.
• Fit and proper for the typical license categories.
