Financial Accountant

About the role

The Financial Accountant will support day‑to‑day accounting operations for PayGenius, Powertime and Energy Intelligence, ensuring accurate consolidated reporting, regulatory compliance and strong internal controls to aid strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes across all three entities in line with group timelines.
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries, accruals, pre‑payments and inter‑company transactions.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet accounts for each business, promptly resolving any differences.
• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, consolidated financial statements and entity‑level reports.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions where required.
• Support the preparation and filing of VAT returns and other statutory obligations.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors, providing schedules and documentation.
• Maintain fixed‑asset registers and monitor cash‑flow positions across the group.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS and South African financial regulations.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase reporting efficiency and accuracy.

Required profile

• Finance or Accounting degree (BCom or equivalent) or recognised accounting diploma.
• At least 2 years of experience in a financial accounting role.
• Strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as Sage or Xero.
• High attention to detail and ability to meet multiple reporting deadlines.
• Analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
