Financial Accountant

About the role

A company in Cape Town is looking for a Financial Accountant to manage the full accounting cycle and support finance operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and financial reporting.
• Oversee day‑to‑day finance operations such as payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger activities.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and reconciliations, ensuring they are completed on time and in full.
• Maintain compliance with tax legislation, accounting standards and statutory requirements, including VAT, EMP and COIDA returns.
• Oversee payroll processing, maintain employee files, and keep the fixed‑asset register up to date.
• Support auditors during year‑end audits and assist the Financial Manager as needed.

Required profile

• BCom Honours degree majoring in financial accounting with SAIPA membership/registration.
• 2–3 years of relevant experience in financial accounting or audit.
• Independent self‑starter with strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Strong systems aptitude, good interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Leadership potential and willingness to take ownership and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Experience with Syspro financial system.
• Experience with Sage accounting software.
