Financial Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our head‑office finance team in Congella, Durban. Reporting to the Financial Manager, you will lead the financial reporting function and ensure timely, accurate information to support the company’s objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare consolidated financial management accounts and monthly financial packs.
• Develop and manage budgets, cash‑flow forecasts and day‑to‑day cash position.
• Oversee foreign‑currency transactions, hedging and banking activities.
• Lead the team handling creditors, cashbook and cash office functions.
• Maintain an accurate Fixed Assets Register.
• Ensure integrity of the general ledger and perform monthly reconciliations.
• Prepare, reconcile and submit VAT returns in compliance with legislation.
• Coordinate the annual audit process.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial processes.

Required profile

• B.Com Accounting (Honours) or equivalent; CIMA/Articles advantageous.
• 5–7 years of experience in financial accounting.
• Proven experience managing and leading a finance team.
• Strong business acumen and ability to work under pressure.

• Sage Evolution (preferred)
