Financial Accountant

About the role

The Financial Accountant will manage core accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support internal control processes. This role requires a detail‑oriented professional with strong commercial awareness and the ability to work under pressure.

Key responsibilities

• Process accounts payable, reconcile creditors, and release EFT payments.
• Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and depreciation schedules.
• Compile information for monthly reporting, inter‑company reconciliations, and cost accounting for the sales department.
• Perform internal control reviews, report deficiencies, and coordinate the Internal Control Matrix assessment.
• Maintain ERP master data, create BOMs, update overhead rates, and manage inventory counts and stock reconciliations.
• Assist with weekly profit forecasting, annual budgeting, and audit file preparation.
• Support implementation of new financial systems, write and maintain SOPs, and respond to ad‑hoc financial requests.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate financial qualification (CA (SA), CIMA, ACCA or similar) – membership advantageous.
• Minimum three years of experience in a comparable accounting role.
• Commercially sound, deadline‑driven, with high attention to detail.
• Hardworking, honest, self‑motivated, disciplined and able to work under pressure.
• Passion for continuous workplace improvement and strong integrity.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the full Microsoft Office suite.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems – SAP, BAAN or Infor LN.
• Experience with financial software applications and databases.
