Finance Officer

About the role

Iranti is rebuilding and moving its financial management in‑house. The Finance Officer provides strategic financial leadership and operational oversight, ensuring transparency, accountability and sustainability of Iranti’s resources. The role covers financial management, budgeting, reporting, audits, payments and supervision of junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records, process supplier payments, invoices, receipts and expense claims, and manage payroll and statutory deductions.
• Support preparation of organisational and project budgets, monitor expenditure against approved budgets, and produce monthly financial reports for management.
• Ensure compliance with Iranti’s financial policies, prepare documentation for audits, and uphold tax, labour and other statutory requirements.
• Assist procurement processes, maintain grant‑related financial records, and monitor donor budget compliance.
• Respond to financial queries from staff, suppliers and service providers, and promote sound financial management practices across the organisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; professional qualification (SAICA, CIMA or ACCA) preferred.
• 3‑5 years proven experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably within a donor‑funded or non‑profit organisation.
• Demonstrated integrity, strong attention to detail, analytical and problem‑solving abilities, and the ability to work independently while managing competing priorities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks or Pastel.
• Understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial controls in non‑profit organisations.
• Knowledge of South African tax and non‑profit compliance requirements.
