Finance Controller

About the role

The Finance Controller will be based in Apex Group's shared service centre in Cape Town, leading the controllership function for Jersey‑based operations. Reporting to the Jersey Head of Finance, you will ensure the integrity, timeliness and compliance of financial information across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage local month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes and produce accurate financial reports for Jersey entities.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements, management reports for the Board, private‑equity sponsor and lenders.
• Conduct monthly balance‑sheet reviews, account reconciliations and variance analyses.
• Coordinate external audit activities and ensure compliance with tax, statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Develop, implement and maintain IFRS‑aligned accounting policies and internal controls.
• Lead technical accounting assessments for complex transactions and post‑merger integration of accounting systems.
• Support finance transformation initiatives, including ERP implementation and process automation.
• Partner with FP&A, Treasury, Tax and Business Finance leads to align reported results with forecasts.

Required profile

• Proven experience in financial controllership or senior accounting roles.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and group accounting policies.
• Demonstrated ability to manage month‑end close, audit coordination and internal control frameworks.
• Experience working with shared services or multi‑entity environments.
• Effective communication and partnership skills with finance and business stakeholders.
