Field Service Technician – Mining Equipment

About the role

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Field Service Technician to deliver customer satisfaction through the installation, repair, inspection and commissioning of mining equipment. You will work on‑site at customer locations, applying technical expertise to resolve operational issues and suggest improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Install, repair, inspect and commission a range of mining machines at customer sites or company premises.
• Document and report all service actions and outcomes.
• Plan, conduct and maintain tools and equipment required for service work.
• Support customers by recommending process or equipment enhancements.
• Provide technical assistance to the sales team and resolve customer problems.
• Guide colleagues on service methods and share knowledge.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
• Trade Certificate of Competence preferred (e.g., Diesel Mechanic, Auto Electrical, Millwright).
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Field Service Technician on earth‑moving equipment.
• Basic computer literacy and English proficiency.
• Own set of tools and a valid Code 08 driver’s licence.
• Full physical and medical clearance for mining environments.

Required skills

• Diesel mechanic knowledge.
• Auto‑electrical and millwright skills.
• Fault finding in electro‑hydraulic, hydraulic and PLC systems.
• Remote‑control system troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with machine models such as DD321, DD422i, DD211, DS211, DS311, DD421, LH517i, LH514, DL422i, DS422i, LH621, TH663.
