External Volunteer HR Sub‑Committee Member (Youth Development)

About the role

Equal Education is seeking an external volunteer to join its Human Resources Sub‑Committee. The role supports strong people governance across the organisation and provides strategic advice on HR matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general oversight over the implementation of Equal Education’s policies and procedures.
• Ensure policies are regularly updated to reflect current South African labour law.
• Review policies in line with the organisation’s evolving needs and priorities.
• Advise on performance appraisal processes for senior leadership and staff.
• Guide annual bonus payments, salary bands and increases where necessary.
• Support the Secretariat and Senior Management Team on HR‑related matters as requested.
• Contribute to HR strategy alignment with Equal Education’s strategic objectives.
• Monitor compliance with labour legislation, remuneration fairness, recruitment, succession planning, employee well‑being and learning development strategies.

Required profile

• A postgraduate qualification in Human Resources, Organisational Development, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Experience working with NGOs, NPOs, or mission‑driven organisations.
• Experience developing and implementing skills‑development strategies.
• 3‑5 years’ experience in learning and development, skills development, HR, organisational development, or a related field.
