External Sales Engineer (VR 135)

About the role

The role involves promoting and selling solar solutions to system integrators and installers in the East London region. You will work remotely, visiting customers, providing technical support and delivering fast‑cycle quotations.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and approach new solar system integrators and installers to expand the customer base.
• Visit existing and potential customers regularly to understand needs and present tailored product offerings.
• Promote and sell solar products such as inverters, PV kits, switchgear, Solar VSDs, EV chargers and accessories.
• Provide consultative sales support and quick quotations using stocked items and predefined pricing.
• Follow up on quotations, manage the sales pipeline and convert leads into purchase orders.
• Deliver technical support, accurate documentation and installation materials.
• Conduct training sessions for customers and maintain technical quality standards.
• Record customer visits, compile sales reports and monitor competitor activities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely product delivery and handle basic after‑sales queries.

Required profile

• National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electro‑Mechanical Engineering or a Red‑seal qualification.
• 3–5 years proven experience in external technical sales within the solar industry.
• Strong understanding of solar systems, especially C&I applications.
• Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and problem‑solving skills.
• Result‑driven mindset with a strong sense of accountability.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel frequently.
