External Audit Supervisor

About the role

The External Audit Supervisor will lead a multi‑functional team serving the Mossel Bay client portfolio, including homeowners' associations, body corporates, trusts and private‑sector audit engagements. The role requires a high degree of autonomy, technical competence and client‑facing professionalism.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with IFRS for SMEs, IFRS, GRAP or compilation basis.
• Supervise junior staff, provide technical guidance and on‑the‑job coaching.
• Act as primary contact for HOAs, body corporates and trusts, ensuring compliance with CSOS requirements and related legislation.
• Oversee trust accounting, levy schedules, trustee reports and other compliance documentation.
• Plan, execute and finalise private‑sector audit engagements following ISA standards and the firm’s audit methodology.
• Conduct risk assessments, design audit procedures and evaluate audit evidence.
• Manage workflow, allocate tasks, and support performance reviews and training needs for the team.

• Strong technical competence in accounting and audit standards.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple client engagements.
• Excellent client‑facing professionalism and communication skills.
• Experience supervising and mentoring junior staff.
