Experienced Trauma Registered Nurse

About the role

The Professional/Clinical Nurse will provide holistic, person‑centred care to trauma patients at Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital. You will assess, plan and implement individualized nursing interventions while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a clinical resource, guiding staff in assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of nursing care.
• Coordinate communication between patients, families, and health professionals, acting as patient advocate when needed.
• Initiate and direct emergency treatment (RESUS) across all hospital wards.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, develop and update nursing care plans, and ensure accurate shift documentation.
• Contribute to policy and procedure development, quality and risk management, and safe utilisation of supplies and equipment.
• Facilitate education and training for nursing staff and students, including emergency procedure drills.
• Allocate staffing resources based on patient acuity and skill requirements.

Required profile

• Registered Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council.
• Thorough knowledge of general and specialised nursing theory and practice.
• Extensive understanding of modern nursing care principles and procedures.
• Experience in trauma or emergency nursing environments.
