Experienced Registered Nurse – Trauma Unit

About the role

A vacancy exists for an Experienced Registered Trauma Nurse at Life Knysna Private Hospital, reporting to the ICU and Trauma Unit Manager. The role involves delivering evidence‑based clinical care and coordinating resources to support the company’s strategic goals of growth, efficiency, quality and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Provide holistic, evidence‑based clinical care to trauma patients and ensure high‑quality outcomes.
• Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support business growth.
• Manage resources efficiently, including pharmacy, clinical engineering, stock, and labour hours, while adhering to budgetary parameters.
• Promote a safe, infection‑controlled environment and enforce company safety policies.
• Foster a collaborative team culture, supporting staff development and conflict resolution.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current SANC registration.
• Post‑graduate diploma or degree in Emergency Nursing (preferred for shift‑lead roles).
• Minimum 1 year of post‑qualification experience in an Emergency Unit.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (essential) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (advantageous).
• Strong leadership, communication, problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Ability to work flexible day and night shifts.
