Engineering Surveyor (On-Site)

About the role

CGS Inc is looking for an Engineering Surveyor to join its on‑site team in Cape Town. You will work on industrial, mechanical and construction projects, using both traditional surveying tools and modern 3D Laser Scanning (LiDAR) to capture accurate field data and set out design parameters.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and record site data in line with project specifications.
• Set out and mark design parameters accurately according to approved plans.
• Report results and flag any unforeseen challenges through the proper organisational channels.
• Maintain and safeguard surveying equipment, ensuring it remains in optimal condition.
• Prepare data cards and equipment ahead of daily field operations.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Geomatics (Surveying & Cartography) or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a surveyor on construction or industrial sites.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in demanding outdoor environments.
• Strong attention to detail, safety‑conscious and able to meet tight project deadlines.
