Engineering Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering and maintenance function in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. You will ensure safe, reliable and cost‑effective operation of production equipment, utilities and site infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Engineering and Maintenance team to meet departmental goals.
• Design and implement preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes.
• Maximise equipment reliability, availability and plant performance while minimising downtime.
• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, engineering regulations and statutory inspections.
• Manage maintenance budgets, engineering costs and spare‑parts inventory.
• Drive continuous‑improvement, Lean Manufacturing and reliability‑centred maintenance initiatives.
• Oversee utilities such as electricity, compressed air, water, steam and backup power systems.
• Manage engineering contractors, CAPEX projects and plant improvement initiatives.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Monitor KPIs including equipment uptime, MTBF, MTTR, preventive‑maintenance compliance and expenditure.

Required profile

• National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Mechatronic Engineering.
• 5–10 years of engineering and maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• At least 5 years of supervisory or management experience.
• Experience as a GMR 2.1 appointee or ability to be appointed.
• Valid driver’s licence.
