Engineering Foreman

About the role

Isambane Mining is looking for an Engineering Foreman to supervise and coordinate all engineering maintenance activities in the allocated area of responsibility. The role ensures equipment is maintained safely, efficiently and in line with statutory requirements, company standards and client specifications, while leading engineering personnel, keeping equipment reliable, minimising downtime and supporting production objectives in compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily maintenance and repair activities and daily workshop activities.
• Ensure preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance is carried out according to maintenance schedules.
• Allocate work to artisans and assistants and monitor the quality of maintenance work.
• Ensure all repairs comply with OEM specifications and company standards.
• Minimise equipment downtime through effective planning and supervision.
• Conduct equipment inspections and identify maintenance requirements.
• Verify completion of maintenance documentation.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Recognised Mechanical Trade Test.
• Extensive knowledge of heavy earthmoving equipment.
• Minimum of 8 years' experience in an opencast mining environment.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a supervisory or foreman position.
• A Foreman Certificate or supervisory qualification is advantageous.

Required skills

• Valid Code B driver's licence.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Sound knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act, company standards and client requirements.
• Communication, leadership, planning and problem-solving competencies.
