Employment Lawyer – Associate Director

About the role

Interpath is seeking an ambitious, commercially‑minded Employment Lawyer to join its Cape Town team at the Associate Director level. You will work in a fast‑paced, advisory‑led environment, providing legal expertise on complex workforce and organisational challenges across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on a broad range of UK and international contentious and non‑contentious employment matters.
• Support strategic growth initiatives such as acquisitions, senior‑level hiring and new market entries.
• Identify and manage employment, regulatory and reputational risks, ensuring robust, best‑practice advice.
• Provide pragmatic guidance on employee relations issues including disciplinaries, grievances, investigations, disputes and exits.
• Instruct and manage external legal counsel on all employment‑related matters.

Required profile

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with 5+ years post‑qualification experience in employment and labour law.
• Experience in private practice, in‑house, or professional services/advisory environments.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK employment law, employee relations, acquisitions, restructures and litigation.
• Proven ability to support workforce change projects, transactions or organisational transformation.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
