Employee Relations Specialist

About the role

The Employee Relations Specialist will lead the management of employee grievances, disciplinary actions and conflict resolution across the organisation. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure compliance with South African labour law and internal policies while supporting managers and employees.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate employee grievance handling, counselling and conflict resolution in a timely manner.
• Provide expert advice to management on disciplinary actions, ensuring fairness and legal compliance.
• Investigate employee concerns, recommend actions and monitor disciplinary processes.
• Represent the organisation at the CCMA and similar dispute‑resolution forums.
• Support HR and line managers with CCMA case preparation and dispute‑resolution strategies.
• Monitor legal developments and ensure adherence to employment legislation, collective agreements and case law.
• Deliver internal training on employee‑relations topics, policies and legislation.
• Review, draft and update company policies to align with current labour legislation.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent (essential).
• Degree or diploma in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations or related field (essential).
• Post‑graduate qualification in Labour Relations (advantageous).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in employee relations, industrial relations or labour‑law advisory roles (essential).
• Proven experience managing disciplinary processes and representing organisations at the CCMA.
• Professional demeanor, high integrity, strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
• Willingness to travel as required.
