Employee Relations Partner

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Employee Relations professional to support RELX companies across South Africa. You will partner with HR Business Partners, managers and business leaders to navigate complex workplace matters, ensure compliance with legislation and deliver fair outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Advise HRBPs, managers and leaders on complex employee relations issues, labour law compliance and legal risk.
• Manage employee relations cases end‑to‑end, including investigations, disciplinary processes, grievances, terminations and organisational change.
• Draft employee relations and labour‑related documentation while maintaining accurate, compliant case records.
• Partner with internal Employment Counsel to ensure compliance with the Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Employment Equity Act and other South African laws.
• Represent the organisation at the CCMA and Labour Court when required.
• Monitor employee relations trends, analyse data and provide insights to improve workplace culture and reduce risk.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or postgraduate qualification in Labour Relations or HR Management.
• Proven record representing employers in CCMA proceedings.
• Deep post‑qualification experience in employee relations, labour relations, investigations and dispute resolution.
• Corporate, shared‑services and multinational experience.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation and employment practices.
• Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
