Emergency Unit Registered Nurse (Trauma Qualified)

About the role

The role is based in the Emergency Unit at Life Midmed Hospital, reporting to the Unit Manager, and focuses on delivering high‑quality, holistic clinical care while supporting continuous learning and career development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver market‑leading, evidence‑based holistic clinical care to emergency patients.
• Manage and optimise resource utilisation, including pharmaceuticals, equipment and labour hours, within budgetary parameters.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support business growth.
• Ensure quality management systems, infection‑prevention practices and patient safety initiatives are followed.
• Participate in achieving patient experience, clinical and safety outcome targets.

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
• Post‑graduate diploma or degree in Emergency Nursing (required for shift‑leader roles).
• At least one year of post‑qualification experience in an Emergency Unit.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (essential) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (advantageous).
• Strong leadership, communication, problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills.
