Electrical Engineer – Design, Manufacturing & Technology

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Cape Town team. You will support design, manufacturing and project delivery for medium‑voltage distribution transformers and related power equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support to engineering, manufacturing, quality and project teams.
• Prepare and review designs, specifications, calculations and technical documentation.
• Conduct fault‑finding, root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Support transformer, switchgear, renewable‑energy, generator and battery‑storage projects.
• Drive continuous improvement in processes, product quality, efficiency and cost reduction.
• Collaborate with procurement on supplier evaluations and equipment selection.
• Ensure compliance with applicable SANS standards.
• Mentor junior engineering and technical staff.
• Participate in new product development and emerging‑technology evaluation.

Required profile

• BTech, Advanced Diploma, BEng or BSc in Electrical Engineering.
• 3‑8 years of experience in electrical manufacturing, medium‑voltage power systems, switchgear or renewable‑energy projects.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Medium‑voltage (MV) and low‑voltage (LV) electrical systems.
• Technical troubleshooting and fault‑finding.
• Root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action implementation.
• Transformer and switchgear design knowledge.
• Renewable‑energy, generator and battery‑storage project experience.
• Fault‑level calculations, protection systems and earthing design.
• Familiarity with SANS transformer and electrical standards.
