Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

Garmin Stellenbosch is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join its R&D team developing consumer radar products for cycling, golf and shooting. The role involves designing analog, digital and RF hardware and taking concepts from simulation through to system integration.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop analog, digital and RF hardware, including simulation, schematic capture and providing PCB layout guidance.
• Validate and refine designs through structured testing, debugging and data‑driven analysis to ensure robust performance.
• Support design reviews, production strategies and continuous engineering improvement for high‑volume manufacturable products.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic Engineering or a related field.
• Passion for electronic design and ability to develop practical hardware solutions.
• Hands‑on experience with testing, debugging and using electronic lab equipment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and understanding of real‑world design challenges such as noise, EMC and thermal effects.
• Clear communication and effective collaboration within local and international teams.
