E&CI Field Technician – Electrical, Control & Instrumentation

About the role

Our client, a specialised South African OEM in the mineral processing and mining equipment sector, is looking for a hands‑on E&CI Field Technician. You will travel locally and internationally to install, commission and troubleshoot electrical, control and instrumentation systems on complex processing plants.

Key responsibilities

• Install, wire and commission electrical, control and instrumentation systems on mineral processing equipment.
• Assist with PLC, HMI/SCADA and control system installation and commissioning.
• Perform fault‑finding, troubleshooting and testing of MCCs, control panels, motors, VSDs and field devices.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and instrumentation drawings.
• Carry out instrument installation, calibration, loop checking and testing.
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and produce commissioning reports.
• Diagnose PLC, instrumentation, electrical and industrial networking faults on‑site.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, mechanical teams and customers.

Required profile

• National Diploma, BTech or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Instrumentation or related field.
• 3–8 years of experience in industrial automation, electrical, instrumentation or control systems.
• Practical experience with PLCs, industrial control systems and field instrumentation.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Understanding of industrial communication networks (Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
