About the role
The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform & Rural Development is looking for a Driver/Messenger to transport passengers, deliver documents and perform routine vehicle maintenance in East London, Eastern Cape.
Key responsibilities
- Drive light and medium vehicles to transport passengers and deliver mail, documents and office equipment.
- Collect, distribute and control the movement of departmental documents.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance and report defects promptly.
- Conduct daily pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and keep vehicle logbooks up to date.
- Maintain accurate trip sheets, mileage records and schedules.
- Assist with registry functions, including filing incoming correspondence and copying/faxing documents.
Required profile
- Grade 10 Certificate or ABET qualification and a valid driver’s licence.
- Minimum of 7 months relevant experience.
- Knowledge of the city where duties will be performed.
- Organising, written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and basic literacy.
- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
