Donor Care Officer

About the role

The Donor Care Officer is responsible for managing the end‑to‑end donor experience at blood drives and donor centres. This includes handling consumables, equipment, donor registration, collection, and post‑donation care while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage cost per unit and consumable stock for whole blood and specialised collections.
• Maintain and validate collection equipment, ensuring timely repairs.
• Build and maintain stakeholder relationships at blood drives and donor centres.
• Greet donors, guide them through registration, and assist with form completion.
• Collect whole blood and apheresis units, meet collection targets, and document all procedures.
• Conduct basic physical checks, risk‑behaviour interviews, and provide donor education.
• Perform phlebotomy, monitor donor wellbeing during donation, and provide refreshments and post‑donation advice.
• Initiate first‑aid or CPR in emergencies and coordinate with medical leads.

Required profile

• Experience in blood collection, donor services or similar healthcare environment.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage consumables and equipment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and adhere to standard operating procedures.
• Commitment to donor safety, confidentiality, and high‑quality service.
