Distance Learning Facilitator: Creative Media Research Methods

About the role

The SAE Distance Campus is looking for an experienced facilitator to deliver the Creative Media Research Methods module remotely. You will guide postgraduate students through the full research cycle, from formulating questions to producing a final research project, linking scholarly inquiry with creative media practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver live webinar sessions and accompanying presentations that cover theory, methodology and assessment criteria.
• Provide ongoing online support to students between webinars, answering queries and offering guidance.
• Assess and grade assignments and projects in line with institutional timelines, ensuring academic integrity.
• Give constructive, timely feedback on student work.
• Participate in programme coordinator meetings and contribute to curriculum and assessment improvements.
• Handle administrative duties related to the module, such as uploading resources to the LMS.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in Creative Media or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in the creative media sector (film, game, animation, sound, or design).
• At least two years of teaching or lecturing experience in higher education.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor students in research design and academic writing.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Learning Management Systems.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
