Development Manager – Property Development

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Development Manager to lead complex property development projects from conception through opening. The role is based in Johannesburg and involves managing budgets, teams, and stakeholder relationships across the full development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the overall development process, including budgets, timelines and feasibility assessments.
• Coordinate land acquisitions, zoning, municipal approvals and funding requirements.
• Lead cross‑functional teams of architects, engineers, quantity surveyors and contractors.
• Oversee retail leasing, tenant relationships and the handover of completed developments.
• Monitor construction progress, costs, risks and quality to ensure timely market opening.

Required profile

• BSc in Property Studies or a related qualification.
• At least 10 years of property or development experience, with 5 years in a development management role.
• Proven delivery of at least one shopping centre through construction to opening.
• Strong financial, commercial and negotiation skills.
• Good knowledge of South African municipal and property development processes.
