Day Mechanical Technician X4

About the role

Kimberly-Clark is hiring four Day Mechanical Technicians in Cape Town to support its portfolio of consumer brands such as Huggies, Kleenex, Cottonelle, Scott, Kotex, Poise, Depend and Kimberly-Clark Professional. The role provides technical support, development and control to the engineering team so that assets stay productive, profitable and safe, and supports the Operations Teams in manufacturing excellence and rebuilds. It also includes data analysis and grade change execution.

Key responsibilities

• Keep assets in a "safe to operate" condition and promote safe working practices to meet plant safety and housekeeping objectives.
• Manage mechanical maintenance technician resources for grade changes, scheduled and breakdown maintenance.
• Use the SAP PM system to keep accurate data on the reliability and maintenance of mill equipment.
• Apply good maintenance practices, benchmark solutions and seek innovations to improve cost and MTBF.
• Support the solution of daily plant operating problems with engineering knowledge.
• Develop improvement areas using digital analysis and dashboards, and review statistical data for quality and OEE.
• Analyse maintenance cost and spend to improve $/SU.
• Deliver grade change activity across assets and track the main maintenance expense and downtime contributors.
• Take part in improvement projects and lead improvements on mill assets covering stops, quality, safety, ROO and waste.

Required profile

• Minimum of a trade (Fitter & Turner or Fitter) with N4 and 3-5 years of FMCG experience.
• National Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least 2 years of FMCG experience.
• Lean Manufacturing and process improvement are an added advantage.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of electrical and pneumatic systems and adhesive systems (an advantage).
• Able to read and understand mechanical drawings.
