Data Engineer (dbt) – Build Scalable Data Pipelines

About the role

We are seeking a Data Engineer with strong expertise in dbt to join our agile team in Johannesburg. You will design, develop, and maintain modern data transformation pipelines on a cloud‑based platform, turning raw data into reliable, analytics‑ready datasets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain dbt models across staging, intermediate, and mart layers.
• Design dimensional data models following Kimball methodology.
• Implement data quality checks using dbt tests and validation frameworks.
• Integrate dbt models into end‑to‑end data pipelines on AWS.
• Optimize transformations for performance and cost efficiency.
• Maintain documentation and adhere to data governance standards.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to deliver actionable data solutions.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in data or analytics engineering.
• 2+ years of hands‑on experience with dbt.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical data solutions.
