Data Analyst III – Banking Insights

About the role

We are looking for an energetic, self‑motivated Data Analyst III to join Capitec Bank’s data team in Stellenbosch. The team unlocks value from data, turning complex datasets into actionable insights that support strategic decision‑making and drive business performance across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Make data accessible and meaningful to stakeholders across the organisation.
• Transform complex datasets into clear insights that senior decision‑makers act on.
• Identify trends, patterns and opportunities that drive informed business decisions.
• Provide data‑driven recommendations to senior management and influence decision‑making.
• Lead and mentor less experienced analysts, sharing knowledge and building capability.
• Oversee adherence to industry regulations and compliance requirements in the analytics space.

Required profile

• At least 8 years of experience in data analysis, with significant experience in financial services or banking.
• Proven track record leading large‑scale data analysis projects and delivering business impact.
• Experience aligning data analysis with business strategy and goals.
• Strong understanding of market analysis and economic factors affecting the business.

Required skills

• Expert mastery of SQL, including query optimisation and ETL processes.
• Advanced programming in Python or R, with experience using machine‑learning libraries.
• Proficiency with data‑visualisation tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
• Knowledge of machine‑learning algorithms and predictive analytics techniques.
• Advanced statistical modelling and risk‑management techniques applied to financial analysis.
