Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join a lean, high‑impact team in Johannesburg. The role spans 6‑12 months (renewable) and involves both offensive and defensive security activities, supporting the discovery of vulnerabilities, attack simulation and remediation enablement.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct penetration testing and ethical hacking engagements to identify security weaknesses.
• Perform red‑team simulations and attack scenarios to assess defensive controls.
• Document findings and work with development teams to remediate identified vulnerabilities.
• Operate across offensive and defensive domains, providing guidance on security best practices.
• Collaborate with senior specialists and mid‑level support resources to deliver comprehensive security assessments.

Required profile

• Developer‑led mindset with strong cybersecurity orientation.
• Proven experience in penetration testing, ethical hacking or red‑team operations.
• Ability to identify vulnerabilities and support remediation efforts.
• Comfortable working in both offensive and defensive security contexts.
