Customs Entry Clerk

About the role

The company is a well‑established freight forwarding and customs clearing organisation seeking an experienced Customs Entry Clerk to join its customs team. The role focuses on accurate and timely preparation of import and export customs entries while ensuring compliance with SARS requirements and client instructions.

Key responsibilities

• Check import and export controller registrations and identify missing or incorrect information.
• Process bills of entry accurately within required turnaround times.
• Review supporting documentation and maintain records of files sent for entry.
• Provide controllers and finance teams with clearing instruction requirements.
• Draft and process import and export bills of entry across various entry types.
• Assist with tariff classification and HS code verification, maintaining a client parts and HS code library.
• Process VOCs, provisional payments, rebate permits, and import permits while monitoring limits and cut‑off dates.
• Monitor tariff updates, regulatory changes and maintain updated SARS and OGA information.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented with strong organisational skills.
• Solid understanding of customs clearing procedures and documentation.
• Ability to work closely with controllers, finance, clients and internal teams.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
