Customer Banking Consultant (FAIS)

About the role

Absa is hiring a Customer Banking Consultant (FAIS) in Carolina to provide needs-based financial advice, sales and service to individual retail banking customers. The role helps customers meet their personal financial goals while complying with FAIS, Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) and bank risk frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Proactively acquire customers and deliver sales against agreed targets, with first-time-right outcomes.
• Deliver efficient, professional customer service and resolve queries across all touchpoints.
• Support lead generation and simplex activities, convert quality leads and campaigns, and keep the pipeline accurate.
• Execute DHA and MVNO offerings precisely and securely, meeting service levels and audit requirements.
• Champion digital and self-service adoption, including customer education to reduce assisted transactions.
• Apply governance, risk and compliance standards (FAIS, AML/CFT, TCF, POPIA) in every interaction.
• Work flexibly across diverse branch formats and customer segments, collaborating within the team.

Accountabilities

• Conduct personal financial needs analyses and advise on approved retail banking products such as transactional accounts, savings, lending, credit, insurance and investments.
• Maintain long-term customer relationships, review portfolios regularly and follow up on engagements.
• Resolve customer queries and escalations, promote alternative banking channels and support digital adoption and financial education.
• Keep advice records, documentation and disclosures accurate, complete regulatory training and CPD, and escalate conduct or operational risks.

Required profile

• FETC certificate in Banking.
• FETC certificate in Finance.
