CSSD Manager

About the role

The CSSD Manager will lead the Central Sterile Services Department at Life Kingsbury Hospital, reporting to the Theatre Operations Manager. This role ensures that all decontamination, sterilisation, packing and distribution processes meet legislative, infection‑prevention and quality standards, providing a safe and efficient supply of surgical instruments.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee correct packing and sterilisation of instrument sets and linen packs for theatres and doctors' rooms in line with infection‑control standards.
• Manage the CSSD department to comply with relevant legislation, Life Healthcare policies and SHEQ procedures.
• Maintain adequate, cost‑effective staffing levels, promote cooperative working relationships and conduct performance management.
• Control the department’s budget, equipment maintenance and stock levels.
• Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are met, supporting infection‑control and safety policies.
• Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and manage workload distribution.
• Promote the CSSD services to doctors to foster satisfactory working relationships.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (Theatre) with current SANC registration.
• Qualification or experience in decontamination services or sterilisation procedures.
• Previous experience managing a CSSD department is highly advantageous.
• Proven people‑management and conflict‑resolution experience.
• Ability to work under pressure with strong attention to detail.
