Creditors Payments Clerk – Junior or Mid-Level

About the role

We are looking for Junior and Mid‑Level Creditors Payments Clerks to join our established finance and shared services team in Cape Town. The role focuses on accurate review, verification and authorisation of supplier and operational payments, ensuring they are correctly approved, documented and released in line with internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Review payment batches for accuracy, completeness and supporting documentation.
• Authorise supplier, operational and ad‑hoc payments within authority limits and verify banking details, references and amounts.
• Monitor payment schedules, cut‑off times and maintain secure payment practices, including fraud prevention controls.
• Identify and escalate unusual, high‑risk or non‑compliant transactions and investigate discrepancies between invoices, batches and bank uploads.
• Support month‑end payment cut‑offs, accruals and continuous improvement of payment processes and workflows.

Required profile

• Certificate or Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Bookkeeping or a related field.
• 1‑3 years of relevant experience for junior level or 3‑5 years for mid‑level in payments, creditors, banking or finance operations.
• Experience with banking platforms, payment authorisation processes and a solid understanding of financial controls and payment governance.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to identify discrepancies and handle confidential financial information with discretion.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel.
• Kerridge finance system (preferred).
• ERP systems and electronic banking platforms.
