Cost Accountant – Manufacturing (Boksburg)

About the role

Our client, a manufacturing company based in Boksburg, is looking for a highly analytical Cost Accountant with a strong manufacturing background. The role involves overseeing job costing, cost analysis, inventory valuation and supporting financial process improvements. The successful candidate will work independently, meet deadlines and provide accurate cost insights for operational decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure accurate job costing and expense allocation.
• Manage work‑in‑progress (WIP) list and close jobs timely.
• Extract costing data and perform cost variance analysis.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date costing database for trend analysis.
• Oversee internal and job recoveries, ensuring correct inter‑company invoicing.
• Maintain accurate inventory valuation and control records.
• Support Microsoft Dynamics Business Central reporting, maintenance and financial processes.
• Contribute to specialised financial and process projects and handle ad‑hoc assignments.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Accounting qualification with 3‑year article experience (non‑negotiable).
• Cost Accounting Certificate (if total experience ≥5 years) or Cost Accounting Diploma (if <5 years).
• Proven experience in a manufacturing environment (not mining).
• Strong leadership, communication and conflict‑management abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure, independently and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
• Proficiency with cost accounting software and inventory valuation tools.
• Advanced computer literacy for reporting.
