Cost Accountant

About the role

Pedros is looking for a Cost Accountant to manage end-to-end plant finance operations. The role covers standard costing, bills of materials, inventory variances, month-end financial reporting and the wider accounting function.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain costing and bills of materials in SAGE, ensuring raw materials are moved into work in progress before production starts.
• Lead weekly and month-end WIP reconciliations, monitor production, analyse material and stock variances and identify cost-reduction and margin-improvement opportunities.
• Implement and improve SOPs and internal controls, linking physical warehouse movements with Sage data to strengthen financial governance.
• Work with operations and management to improve processes, resolve cost issues and support decision-making.
• Prepare and submit management accounts, month-end reports and general ledger reconciliations.
• Prepare and manage monthly budgets and forecasts to monitor spend and support financial planning.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Financial Management or Accounting; CIMA preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in FMCG, QSR/fast food or retail.
• Sound understanding of the finance function and cost accounting.
• Effective communication across all levels of the organisation.
