Cost Accountant

About the role

A dynamic, growing player in the South African wine industry is looking for a Junior Cost Accountant to join its finance team in Stellenbosch. Reporting to the senior Cost Accountant, you will calculate manufacturing costs, ensure accurate stock intake, and support general accounting functions across the production chain.

Key responsibilities

• Update ERP production orders to maintain accurate stock items, costing, and quantities.
• Review stock counts across production facilities, analyse variances and report inventory discrepancies.
• Compile and maintain a Costing Masterfile to compare supplier pricing and aid procurement decisions.
• Analyse finished‑stock pricing and Cost of Goods Sold to ensure correct margin calculations and budget alignment.
• Create purchase orders, match invoices for bulk deliveries, and process Fairtrade documentation and quarterly reporting data.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Accounting.
• Cost accounting experience is beneficial.
• Experience with Xero or other cloud‑based accounting systems.

Required skills

• Xero (or similar cloud accounting software).
• ERP systems for production order management.
• Cost accounting techniques.
• Inventory management and stock reconciliation.
• Purchase order creation and invoice matching.
• Fairtrade documentation handling.

• Competitive salary of R30,000 – R40,000 CTC per month.
