Corporate Commercial Senior Associate (Sandton)

About the role

Our client, a well‑established law firm with offices in Sandton, Cape Town and Durban, is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Commercial Senior Associate to join its dynamic Corporate & Commercial team in Sandton. This role offers the chance to work on high‑value corporate transactions, complex commercial matters and strategic advisory work.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements and legal documentation.
• Advise clients on corporate and commercial legal matters across multiple sectors.
• Manage and assist with corporate transactions, including M&A, corporate restructures and project finance.
• Prepare and review documentation such as Sale of Business Agreements, Shareholders Agreements, Partnership Agreements and Memoranda of Incorporation.
• Conduct legal research and provide commercially practical advice.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while ensuring compliance with the Companies Act and related regulations.
• Manage matters independently and collaborate effectively with the broader legal team.

Required profile

• LLB degree and admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum 5+ years post‑admission experience in Corporate and Commercial Law.
• Proven experience in corporate transactions, M&A and project finance.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and analytical capabilities.
• Demonstrated client engagement and relationship‑management experience.
