Content Creator / Digital Storyteller

About the role

Career Start is looking for a creative and proactive Content Creator / Digital Storyteller to join its internal marketing and operations team. The role suits a self-directed person who enjoys making high-quality visual content and bringing the brand to life on digital platforms, whether coming from social media, videography, photography or digital marketing. It is a full-time position based in Cape Town.

Key responsibilities

• Shoot, edit and produce short-form video content (Reels, TikToks, Shorts) and high-quality photography for daily digital campaigns
• Draft captions, post copy and promotional text aligned with brand tone and engagement goals
• Plan, capture and manage live event coverage, behind-the-scenes footage and product or venue highlights
• Schedule posts, maintain content calendars, organise digital media assets and track production equipment
• Use mobile creator tools and project platforms to receive briefs, update status pipelines and track publishing schedules

Required profile

• Proven track record of creating engaging social media content, managing production schedules and working independently
• Deep understanding of visual composition, lighting, audio clarity and trending content formats
• Organised, proactive and able to spot storytelling opportunities and trends early
• Able to follow brand guidelines and work independently to meet deadlines without compromising quality
• Reliable and trustworthy around clients, venues and high-profile events
• Good basic communication with internal marketing teams and operations leads

Required skills

• Video editing apps such as CapCut, Premiere and Lightroom
• Mobile creation software, scheduling tools and content analytics platforms
