Container Depot Supervisor (2 positions) – Durban

About the role

We are looking for proactive, hands‑on supervisors to manage daily operations at our container depot in Durban. The role involves ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining high housekeeping standards, and meeting health‑and‑safety and productivity targets.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily diesel dip checks and machine inspections with yard supervisors and drivers.
• Maintain yard cleanliness, stacking, and general maintenance.
• Locate containers by unit number and process off‑hire and sale units.
• Manage traffic congestion at the boom gate and feeder road.
• Relieve yard supervisors during lunch breaks to keep operations uninterrupted.
• Conduct toolbox talks and enforce health‑and‑safety policies.
• Communicate shift handovers and operational updates.
• Monitor performance against productivity targets and deadlines.
• Provide leadership, guidance and support to operational staff.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
• Minimum three years supervisory experience in a container depot, logistics, transport or related environment.
• Strong leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
• Valid 9‑ton empty‑handler licence is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
