Contact Centre Agent – Cape Town

About the role

Are you a young, passionate, tech‑savvy individual with excellent communication skills? Our client, a national emergency medical services provider, is seeking Contact Centre Agents to support the Cape Town contact centre during peak periods. This role offers part‑time shifts in a fast‑paced environment for recent Grade 12 graduates.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and prioritize emergency and non‑emergency calls, assess situations and direct callers to appropriate provincial services.
• Gather accurate location and problem information using effective questioning techniques.
• Operate automated communication equipment, including the computer‑aided dispatch terminal.
• Maintain a professional, service‑oriented demeanor and handle routine enquiries.
• Escalate issues to supervisors when necessary and support the centre’s mission and values.

Required profile

• Completed Grade 12 within the last three years with at least 65% English, 50% Mathematics (or 70% Maths Literacy), 75% Life Orientation and optional 60% CAT.
• Available to work in a 24‑hour environment, including overtime and holidays, with flexible short‑notice shifts.
• Own transport and adequate hearing, manual dexterity and alertness for prolonged periods.

Required skills

• Computer Applications Technology (CAT) proficiency.
• Experience using a computer‑aided dispatch terminal.
