Construction Manager – Utility‑Scale Solar PV & Battery Storage

About the role

The client seeks a Construction Manager to lead the mobilization, construction, and handover of a utility‑scale solar PV and battery‑storage project in Dwaalboom, Limpopo. The role spans the full project lifecycle, from early works through commissioning readiness, over an anticipated 12–18 month period.

Key responsibilities

• Lead site construction delivery for the assigned solar PV and battery‑storage project from mobilization through completion and handover.
• Own the integrated construction execution plan, including work‑front sequencing, resourcing, milestones, interfaces and recovery actions.
• Mobilize and direct multidisciplinary site teams, contractors and subcontractors, establishing clear accountabilities and site routines.
• Maintain schedule, cost, risk and progress controls; report regularly to the Project Manager, Project Director and governance forums.
• Engage client leadership, contractors, suppliers and external stakeholders to resolve interfaces, issues and dependencies promptly.
• Integrate health, safety and quality requirements into daily execution and drive closure of incidents, non‑conformances and corrective actions.
• Coordinate completion, punch‑list close‑out, testing, commissioning readiness, as‑built records and handover.

Required profile

• At least five years of construction management experience, with a minimum of two years leading utility‑scale solar PV projects.
• Direct experience with battery‑storage construction is preferred; exceptional solar PV candidates may also be considered.
• Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary site teams, contractors and subcontractors in a fast‑moving environment.
• Strong judgment to deliver safe, high‑quality work on schedule and within budget.
