Construction Manager – Richards Bay (2 positions)

About the role

We are seeking two experienced Construction Managers to lead large‑scale utility, distribution, transmission and substation projects in the Richards Bay area. The role involves full technical and operational responsibility for civil and high‑voltage electrical works, contract administration and site safety coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Direct on‑site management, control and coordination of mechanical, civil and high‑voltage electrical construction activities, ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications.
• Monitor construction milestones and critical‑path actions to meet commissioning windows for Eskom/NTCSA infrastructure modifications.
• Administer NEC3/NEC4 contracts, manage site instructions, verify progressive invoicing and resolve contractor bottlenecks.
• Enforce a zero‑tolerance safety culture in line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Construction Regulations and Eskom safety standards.
• Audit and sign‑off Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), method statements and structural tolerances to maintain quality governance.
• Liaise with Eskom inspectors, clerks of works and municipal utility representatives, compiling final quality data books and hand‑over documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing large‑scale utility or substation construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contract administration.
• Demonstrated ability to enforce SHEQ standards and manage site safety.
• Excellent coordination with engineering, safety advisors and client representatives.
